Can you help me determine if this really is true…

It seems you can’t read The Wall Street Journal or catch a minute of CNBC without seeing another headline about how investors are fleeing stocks and piling their retirement savings into government bonds and cash.

The numbers are staggering. Some say historic. Especially given that this mass “exodus” comes at a time when the stock market has climbed more than 20% in the past 12 months (more than 100% since the bear market bottom), while interest rates are at historic lows.

This could be a double whammy. Not only is it a hard way to earn the income you may need to live day to day—it all but guarantees you will have LESS money in terms of what you can actually buy in the real world each and every year going forward.

I’d love to discuss my assumptions and the math behind them with you. But first, can you help me determine how serious this situation is? I ask for two reasons. First, I’ve learned over my 30 years in this business that you can’t always trust the published data. Second, the fact that you’re reading this tells me you are not a typical “retail” investor.

Frankly, it’s intellectually engaged, self-starters like you I’m concerned with. So if you would be so kind, can you tell me how you feel about your investments heading into the November election and beyond? More specifically, whether you’re staying the course or giving up on stocks for the long run.

Of course, your response will be 100% anonymous and confidential. It will also guide my thinking as I prepare a series of research designed to help individual investors like you make sense of this confusing market environment. Please take a moment to select the one that applies.

Heading into the November election and the coming year, I am…
