Consumer Confidence Rises Again

The big economic report this morning was the consumer confidence rose for the second straight month. For December, the index rose to 52.9 from 50.6 for November. This is very good news and coming on the heels of yesterday’s retail sales report, it indicates that people are willing to go out shopping.

Last week, I took a look at the improving environment for retailers. There are still significant weaknesses out there (like unemployment) but as long as we see gains in sentiment and production, then the economy is moving in the right direction.
