Preview of Week Ahead on Wall Street

This is the week before the three-day Memorial Day holiday. Most Wall Streeters are already itching to get away so I expect trading volume will be light.

On Monday, the major homebuilders will release their May housing index. It will be interesting to see if there’s been more activity in this crucial sector.

Then on Tuesday, Home Depot (HD), TJX (TJX), Medtronic (MDT) and Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) are due to report earnings. We’ll also get a report on housing starts.

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve will release the minutes of its April meeting. I’m very curious to hear what they had to say. Also, Target (TGT) and BJ’s Wholesale Club (BJ) report earnings.

On Thursday, Foot Locker (FL) and Barnes & Noble (B) report. The index of leading economic indicators will also be released. Hopefully, we’ll see more signs of improvement.

Finally on Friday, the bond market will close at 2 p.m., ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.
