This is the final week of April. We’re going to more earnings reports plus we’re going to get our first peak at how well the economy did in the first quarter.
On Tuesday, the report for consumer confidence is released.
On Wednesday, the initial report on first-quarter GDP will be released. The economy dropped by 6.3% in the fourth quarter. Wall Street is expecting a similar fall this time. The Federal Reserve also meets in Washington. Since interest rates are already at rock bottom, I don’t expect any change.
On Wednesday, President Obama will hold a prime-time televised news conference.
Friday is May Day and many foreign exchanges will be closed. The April ISM manufacturing index will be released.
